Bridges are a good, fast and non-surgical treatment option to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Unlike dentures, bridges are not-removable and are permanently cemented in the mouth. If you have teeth surrounding a missing tooth, these teeth can be used as anchors to support a ‘floating’ tooth, which fills the space of the missing tooth. Similar to a crown, the bridge is completed in two visits. At the first visit, the teeth next to the missing tooth space are shaped and an impression is taken. This impression is sent to a laboratory who makes the final bridge to follow the color and anatomy of the mouth. The patient will leave this first visit with a custom made temporary bridge. At the second visit, the permanent bridge is cemented into place. With a bridge in place, patients patients can attain both the function and appearance of natural, healthy teeth.
